The Central Election Commission of Georgia on Monday approved applications by five international monitor organisations and six domestic non-governmental groups to observe the parliamentary elections next month, Spokesperson Natia Ioseliani said.

Ioseliani noted a relevant section of the CEC had inspected documentation submitted by the organisations for accuracy before reaching the decision.

There are still registration deadlines - for international organisations it is October 19, and for local monitoring organisations there is a period of up to and including October 16”, she added.

Ioseliani also said 38 international and 56 local monitoring organisations had been registered for observing the voting.
