Irakli Kobakhidze, the candidate for the post of the Prime Minister of Georgia, on Wednesday expressed his condolences over the passing of Vazha Azarashvili, an acclaimed Georgian composer, musical artist and teacher.
Conveying his sympathies during a meeting with opposition factions in the Parliament ahead of the presentation of his Government programme, Kobakhidze said Azarashvili had “left an indelible imprint on Georgian culture through his diverse and genre-spanning creative endeavours”.
Azarashvili was the esteemed creator of numerous renowned musical compositions, a distinguished figure in Georgian art, a People's Artist of Georgia, a recipient of the Order of Honour, and an Honorary Citizen of Tbilisi”, the official said.
Azarashvili passed away on Wednesday, aged 87.
