Irakli Kobakhidze, the candidate for the position of the Prime Minister of Georgia, on Tuesday said the ruling Georgian Dream party was “ready” to “single-handedly” meet the nine priorities outlined by the European Union for opening accession talks with the country.

Kobakhidze said while it would be “good” if other parties became involved in the process, they had instead “chosen a radical agenda”.

[We have] almost as a single party managed to fulfil the 12 conditions [last year] on the basis of which we were granted the [EU membership] candidate status. Even now, we are ready to fulfil the nine priorities put forward by the European Union also as a single party”, he added.

The PM candidate also said the ruling team had “not relied” on “Lelo and similar radical parties in the past” for the work and would “not rely on them in the future”.
