Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday announced the construction of seven residential buildings, including one 14-storey and six 12-storey buildings, to accommodate 1,700 internally displaced families by 2027.
During all these years, significant progress has been made with active efforts, providing thousands of displaced families with suitable housing in various locations. The project commencing today marks the continuation of this ongoing process”, Kobakhidze said at a symbolic capsule-placing ceremony at the site of the construction, which was also attended by Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs and Irakli Gogolishvili, the Director General of a construction company Anagi.
The project will be implemented by Anagi with a construction budget of over ₾191 million ($70mln), the Government Administration said.
It added that the construction of new buildings for internally displaced families was also underway in the capital city of Tbilisi and other cities - Rustavi, Borjomi and Kutaisi.
