The Georgian National Tourism Administration is hosting a delegation of up to 10 “leading” tourism companies from the United States and a journalist from Forbes Magazine to showcase the country’s visitor potential, the body said on Tuesday.

The Administration said the visiting group explored “key tourist attractions” in the country’s capital Tbilisi and held meetings with local tour operators to discuss potential cooperation, with the group also visiting the western Georgian city of Kutaisi and Sairme resort, where they “experienced the beauty” of Imereti region and its local gastronomy.

Maia Omiadze, the Head of the GNTA, emphasised the significance of hosting the group, and added they would be visiting “touristically important” regions to explore Georgia's cultural and tourism potential.

A representative from a New York travel company commented, “it is possible to start arranging combined tours in Georgia soon - you have very good wineries, delicious wine, bird watching is also possible in Georgia, you will see monasteries here. This is a very interesting and different tourist destination. I am glad to meet the service providers, get to know their offers and products, and hopefully we will start cooperation soon”.

The group will also visit the country’s eastern winemaking region of Kakheti to explore the village of Tsinandali, town of Sighnaghi, and Lopota resort, tour cultural monuments, participate in master classes, and taste traditional Georgian wines and dishes.
