Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze on Thursday signed the Council of Europe framework convention on artificial intelligence.
Bregadze highlighted that it was the “first” international and binding document aimed at ensuring a balance between the utilisation of artificial intelligence systems and the protection of human rights, the Georgian Justice Ministry said.
The document creates a legal basis and defines the basic principles on which the use of artificial intelligence in the contracting states should be based. It also aims to ensure human rights in the context of the use of artificial intelligence”, the body said.
Bregadze highlighted the priority of his Ministry both to introduce “modern technologies” in justice and service delivery and to create “appropriate” legal regulations so that “the use of technologies and artificial intelligence is in full compliance with human rights protection standards”.
The Ministry is set to launch the Legal Center of Artificial Intelligence in the near future.
