Georgian para athletes leave for Paris to compete in Paralympic Games 2024

The Georgian Paralympic team on Sunday left for Paris to participate in the 2024 Paralympic Games, which will run from August 28 to September 8.

The national team will compete with 14 athletes in six sports, with para taekwondo athletes Ana Japaridze and Lia Chachibaia to perform first in the Olympic Games on Thursday, and later, with Giorgi Nikoladze to perform in para taekwondo as well, the Georgian Paralympic Committee said. 

Irma Khetsuriani and Nino Tibilashvili will compete in wheelchair fencing, with Giorgi Ochkhikidze entering the shot put competition and Davit Kavtaradze's javelin throw in athletics.

Vladimir Chincharauli will compete in the 10-metre rifle shooting, while Zurab Zurabiani, Giorgi Kaldani, Ina Kaldani, Lasha Kizilashvili and Revaz Chikoidze will perform in judo.

Finally, Akaki Jintcharadze will face his rivals in +107 kg powerlifting.

The Paralympic Summer Games in Paris will bring together around 4,000 athletes from 180 countries to compete in 549 medal events across 22 sports.
