Georgian external trade up 1.6% in January-July with Turkey, Russia, US top partners

The list of top trading partners of Georgia between the first seven months of this year was topped by Turkey with $1.80 billion, Russia with $1.42 billion and the United States with $1.07 billion, the National Statistics office said on Monday.

The list of exports was headed by Kyrgyzstan ($587.5mln), Kazakhstan ($446.5mln) and Russia ($407.2mln), while imports were topped by Turkey ($1.51bln), Russia ($1.02bln) and the United States ($991.2mln).

The top export items were the following:

  • Motor vehicles - $1.19 billion (33.8 percent of total exports)
  • Ferro-alloys - $201.4 million (5.7 percent)
  • Fresh grapes - $174.4 million (4.9 percent)

The three top import commodities included:

  • Motor vehicles - $1.60 billion (17.8 percent of the total imports)
  • Petroleum and petroleum oils - $769.7 million (8.5 percent)
  • Medicaments - $370.1 million (4.1 percent)

Overall, the Georgian external trade turnover amounted to $12.56 billion between January-July, posting a 1.6 percent year-on-year increase.

The value of exports decreased by 1.3 percent and equalled $3.53 billion, while imports also increased by 2.9 percent, amounting to $9.03 billion in the reporting period.
