Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said he was confident in the country’s economic performance, emphasising the importance of the trajectory to “gradually improve social conditions” of the population.
Highlighting the country’s economic achievements, Kobakhidze noted it had maintained an average growth of 9.7 percent over the past three years and nine percent growth in the first half of the year.
The most important thing for us is to maintain a high rate of economic growth, and I am confident that will be the case. We expect to see high economic growth in July and August, and we should continue at this pace until the end of the year”, he said.
In addition to economic success, Kobakhidze highlighted Georgia’s positions in international rankings, saying “all international indexes” indicated the country was advanced not only in the wider region, but also compared to European Union member states.
Kobakhidze referenced the latest Confidence Dimension Index by Varieties of Democracy, which recognised Georgia among the top 40 countries worldwide.
All international indexes, including this specific index that measures the performance of the executive authority, indicate that Georgia is not only advanced in the region, but also ahead of EU countries in many parameters. This includes the effectiveness of the Government, specifically the executive branch. Therefore, we must continue our efforts”, he said.
The Prime Minister also claimed the country’s “high” economic performance reflected “administrative efficiency”.
