Former members of the opposition European Georgia party who left the group over intra-party disagreement earlier this month are set to launch a new party on Thursday, Tamar Chergoleishvili, one of the leaders of the group, has said.

Named Federalists, the party will be formally presented in the event, before it hosts its congress in September.

The group will also reveal details about its participation in the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26 around the time of the congress.

The members split off from European Georgia after Chair Giga Bokeria left the party over “disagreement and serious controversy concerning the way of conducting primaries”.
