The Migration Department of Georgia's Interior Ministry arrested and expelled 26 citizens of various countries in June for illegal residence, the body said on Tuesday.
The Department deported citizens of Iran, Pakistan, Jordan, Iraq, Russia, Egypt, Bangladesh, Nigeria, India and other states who had entered the country and resided without a legal status.
Some of the individuals left Georgia “voluntarily”, it added, while others were forcibly expelled based on “measures taken” by the Department.
The Migration Department of Georgia's Interior Ministry arrested and expelled 42 citizens of different countries between April and May, the body said on Wednesday.
A total of 190 foreign nationals were deported from Georgia throughout 2023, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Wednesday in its latest update of the figures.
The Georgian Interior Ministry on Wednesday said it had launched an electronic facial recognition programme earlier this month to increase the effectiveness of control at border checkpoints across the country.
