Georgian canoe sprint athlete Gia Gabedava claimed a gold medal at the ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships hosted between June 27-30 in Bratislava, Slovakia, the Georgian Sports Ministry said on Sunday.

Gabedava covered the 200-metre distance of the single-seater canoe in 39.980 seconds and claimed his win.

The Ministry said the Georgian athlete had gained the victory ahead of Polish and Czech competitors at the Championships.

The body added the Georgian national team was participating in the European Championships with the support of the Ministry.
