Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the country had four “main concrete results” on its European Union integration path and all four were achieved under the Government of the ruling Georgian Dream party.
In his comments to the media, Kobakhidze noted his Government would “consistently” continue to advance in the direction of European integration, and stressed he was sure the country would become the EU member state by 2030.
Although this path was very difficult, with many challenges, we managed and took specific steps on the path of European integration. These are very concrete and tangible steps”, he added.
The PM pointed out Georgia would be “the most prepared” country for EU integration in 2030 among the candidate states.
While commenting on the newly adopted law on transparency of foreign influence, the official said a “false agitation” was created around the law, which was protested by specific individuals both inside and outside the country, noting the country's sovereignty was strengthened by this law and the relations would definitely “return to normal state both inside, as well as outside the country”.
The [domestic] opposition had excessive expectations that the country would suffer damage during these days, but I am sure that these expectations of the opposition will not be justified. The country is moving forward in the direction of European integration”, he noted.
“No matter what kind of obstacles” Georgia will face on its EU integration path from the side of domestic opposition, the country will continue to “consistently advance” in the direction of European membership, Kobakhidze added.
