Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday extended his gratitude to the Special State Protection Service of the country for their “dedicated service” at an event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the body.

Kobakhidze congratulated the staff and both current and retired employees of the Service on the date.

“I would like to heartily congratulate the leadership of the Special State Protection Service, the entire staff, and all current and veteran employees on this remarkable day - the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Service”, he noted.

The Prime Minister highlighted the agency's creation during a “challenging period” following Georgia's independence.

Your agency was created during a very difficult period and entrusted with a crucial mission after the restoration of Georgia's independence. For three decades, you have been strengthening the security and stability of the country and making a significant contribution to protecting and reinforcing our statehood. I want to thank each of you once again for your dedication”, the Government head said.

Kobakhidze praised Anzor Chubinidze, the Head of the body, for his “significant contribution” to the service’s development, expressing confidence the Service had become an “institution of the highest European standards, capable of responding to any challenge”.

Chubinidze presented a report on the performance of his office detailing its achievements and developments, while employees were awarded the First Class Medal for their “exemplary discipline” and “conscientious performance of duties”.
