Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said he would be in the stands for the national football team’s match against Czechia at the ongoing European Championship in Germany on Saturday.

Kobakhidze said he was “confident” of a victory in the game, which is set to be hosted in Hamburg.

I will definitely attend, and I have very high hopes of winning. You saw that our players put everything in their first match [against Turkey], we just lacked a bit of luck. I think that in this case luck will be on our side, and we will definitely win against Czechia”, he said.

The team’s defeat to Turkey on Tuesday and the squad’s first-ever goal in the European Championship saw positive reviews from international sports reviewers and media outlets for the performance offered by the team.

Georgia will also play Portugal in the remaining group stage fixtures.
