Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said public engagement with activities of the armed forces through initiatives like the Army Camp was “important for being introduced to the values underpinning our country and desirable for society”, in comments at the launch of the project near capital Tbilisi.

Kobakhidze was addressing the project at the Academy of Sergeants in Kojori, where students are offered to learn about military life at armed forces bases.

With 2,300 students involved in this year’s second stream of the Camp, the Prime Minister said the armed forces were “our pride and our history” and “the force that has secured our country’s independence and identity”.

It is a valuable opportunity for all of you to directly connect with servicemembers and learn about military affairs”, he told participants.

Kobakhidze said the modern world faced “numerous challenges when it comes to upholding values”.

Certain trends have the potential to weaken the fundamental values that any society should uphold. It is crucial for us to comprehend the values that should form a strong foundation for the continued growth of our country”, he said.

Implemented by the country’s Education and Defence ministries, the project was launched last year with the goal to encourage “healthy lifestyle and correct values” in the country’s youth.
