Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday said the domestic opposition had engaged in a “disinformation campaign” in claiming the ruling Georgian Dream party had run a “campaign against Ukraine”.

Botchorishvili said the Government had “done everything to support Ukraine, both politically and from a humanitarian point of view”, on the backdrop of the ongoing war in the country.

It is disinformation to say the Georgian Dream party had launched a campaign against Ukraine. The aim of this campaign was to harm the reputation of the country, and representatives of the opposition actively participated in it”, Botchorishvili alleged.

“As for the [PM’s] participation in the [Ukraine Recovery] Conference [in Berlin], this is a political message - the Government of Georgia and the people of Georgia stand by the people of Ukraine”, she noted.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday said his Government’s support for Ukraine had been manifested through endorsements of “various pro-Ukraine decisions” in international forums amid the ongoing war.

Kobakhidze, who is featuring in the ongoing Conference in Berlin, said the Government’s “political position” towards Ukraine was “very solid and very clear”.
