Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the Chair of the Central Election Commission and the Mission Director of the International Republican Institute Sean Dunne and the IRI Resident Programme Director in Georgia John DiPirro on Thursday discussed the preparation process for the upcoming parliamentary elections on October 26.
Kalandarishvili briefed the IRI representatives with detailed information about the efforts made by the CEC for the “large-scale introduction” of electronic technologies in the electoral process, as well as “the crucial projects that are being successfully organised” to ensure the conduction of the elections “at a high professional level”.
The conversation touched on the activities implemented by the Election Commission for certification of the penitentiary members of precinct election commissions, extensive voter information campaigns and voter education, the CEC said.
The parties also reviewed cooperation and discussed the relevant topics regarding exchanging information as part of the observer mission. Kalandarishvili expressed readiness for close collaboration with the observer mission.
