Georgian Deputy Defence Minister joins Invictus Games anniversary in London

Paata Patiashvili, the Deputy Minister of Defence of Georgia, on Friday attended an event in London commemorating the 10th anniversary of Invictus Games, a multisport event for wounded, injured and ill servicemen and women.

The Ministry said Patiashvili also participated in panel discussions on improving rehabilitation, re-socialisation and support for injured servicemembers and their families. The panel also discussed strengthening cooperation and a 10-year development plan for the Games.

During his visit to London, Patiashvili also met with Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, who is the patron of the Games.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister met with executive directors of the Invictus Games Foundation and Fisher House Foundation, where the sides discussed cooperation, promotion of para-sports development and provision of sports equipment to Georgian military personnel.

Servicemembers from Georgia have participated in the Games since its establishment in 2014.
