Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze on Monday claimed a silver medal in the men’s sabre category at the Seoul Grand Prix in South Korea.
Bazadze lost the final to Egypt’s Ziad Elsissy 13:15 to earn the medal, with the competition ending today.
The Georgian fencer defeated a “number of strong opponents” before the final, including home favourite and three-time Olympic Champion Gu Bon-gil, the country’s Fencing Federation said.
The latest rating from the International Fencing Federation ranking see Bazadze top the list with 242,000 points, 38 ahead of Elsissy.
