Russian occupation forces have illegally detained two citizens near the occupied village of Dirbi in the Kareli municipality in central Georgia, the State Security Service of Georgia said on Monday.
The state body said it had activated the hotline operated for information exchange on developments along the occupation line, and informed the European Union Monitoring Mission and Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions - a platform for facilitating talks on the consequences of the 2008 war between the two states - about the incident.
The Service also said work was underway with international partners to ensure release of the illegally detained nationals.
