A celebration of Italian production, cultural heritage and craftsmanship was marked on Monday in Georgia with the annual Made in Italy Day, the Italian Embassy to the country said.
Hosted at the Design Institute in Tbilisi, the event featured presentations by Italian entrepreneurs, food tasting, as well as an exposition of Alfa Romeo cars and collections of historical clothing and shoe brands.
The Embassy said Ambassador Massimiliano D'Antuono opened the event, celebrated on an anniversary of famed Italian artist, sculptor and inventor Leonardo da Vinci, and offered guests a “veritable kaleidoscope” of beauty, quality and taste.
The diplomatic representation said Italian products were recognised for their style, taste and quality, making Made in Italy a “trademark that indicates not only the origin, but also a distinct and unique identity”.
Jacopo Saleri, lecturer at Design Institute as well as a brand and packaging designer, highlighted the role of design and label in wine production, while David Gugava, representative of the Falezze winery of the Veneto region, shared his experience in viticulture and winemaking.
Diego Buttiglione, the finalist of the MasterChef Georgia cooking reality television series, offered visitors a tasting of Italian food products, while Lika Kurtanidze, the founder of EliPlanet, introduced them to “biologically clean” Italian products of the Mediterranean diet.
The event hosted representatives of diplomatic corps in Georgia, as well as businesses and entrepreneurs.
