The Italian Design Day 2024 was celebrated on Thursday in Georgia with the event under the title Manufacturing Value - Inclusiveness, Innovation and Sustainability, which included two digital exhibitions showcasing and promoting Italian architecture and design.
Organised by the Italian Embassy in Georgia, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency, the event was opened by the country’s Ambassador to Georgia Massimiliano D'Antuono and Lena Kiladze, the Executive Director of Tbilisi Centre of Architecture, Design and Creative Industries and editor of the country’s edition of prestigious Italian magazine Domus.
Two exhibitions, Crafting Sustainable Future-Italian Design from Tradition to Innovation, prepared by Domus Georgia, and 100 Italian Vases - showcasing illustrative reproductions of vases from the 20th and 21st centuries, created with the support of the Italian Foreign Ministry, were presented to the guests.
The event, aimed to promote Italian design in Georgian society, also included presentations by the founder of the Tbilisi Arch Week Mariam Botchorishvili and Carlos Rodriguez, the Professor at Italy’s Marangoni Fashion Institute, as well as a lecture on Urban Regeneration by Giovanni Podestà, the leading architect of Studio Fuksas.
Attended by prominent figures in the fields of architecture and design and representatives of scientific, academic and entrepreneurial circles, the Italian Design Day ended with the award ceremony of the winners of the competition announced by the Marangoni Institute.
