The ongoing political processes in Georgia, the security challenges in the country and the integration into the European Union were discussed on Wednesday by Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s EU Integration Committee, Givi Mikanadze, the Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee and the ambassadors of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the EU.
Botchorishvili said the meeting with the delegation of the EU PSC was “another expression of support” from the bloc’s member countries for Georgia, where the ambassadors confirmed their readiness to assist the country on its EU integration path.

It is important to continue progress in these directions, which will ultimately lead to Georgia’s EU membership”, she stressed following the meeting, which was also attended by the Georgian Ambassador to the EU Vakhtang Makharoblishvili.
Today, the ambassadors of the EU Political and Security Committee also held meetings with the representatives of the Georgian parliamentary opposition.

Georgia’s European Union Integration Commission, led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, on Tuesday adopted an action plan for 2024 for the country’s integration into the EU.
The 17th Plenary Meeting of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of the EU Parliaments in Brussels adopted a document that calls for working towards opening accession talks with Georgia, “in line with the merit-based approach”.
Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday told the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs the country had “proven itself as a reliable partner” of the European Union by contributing to its Common Security and Defence Policy.
