Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Monday highlighted the “close” economic and political ties with Armenia, saying the cooperation had moved to the level of strategic partnership.
Davitashvili said selection of Armenia as the destination of one of the first foreign visits of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze was “symbolic”.
In terms of economy, Armenia is one of the main trade partners of Georgia - it is the fourth-largest trading partner. It is hoped trade turnover will increase this year as well. Georgia is also very important in terms of transit for Armenian cargo and is also very important as a tourist market”, he told the media in Yerevan.
The Minister added Georgia was a “popular destination” among Armenian visitors, and noted the cooperation would “further deepen in various directions”.
