The State Security Service of Georgia on Friday said its professionals had arrested citizens of Egypt and Iraq for selling a “large amount” of counterfeit currency.
The Service said its investigation had found the offenders, on temporary residence in the country, had sold $9,600 worth of fake currency on Thursday before being arrested by law enforcement.
The body added the case was being investigated by its Anti-Corruption Agency, with the crime punishable by imprisonment between seven and 10 years.
