Evaluators from the National Democratic Institute on Tuesday discussed the organisation's parliamentary programmes with Georgian lawmakers, the Parliament of Georgia press office said.
The discussions involved MPs from both the ruling Georgian Dream party and the opposition, with Salome Kurasbediani, the Deputy Chairperson of the Environment Protection and Natural Resources Committee from GD, highlighting specific initiatives undertaken in collaboration with the NDI.
She noted the meeting had encompassed a “comprehensive overview” of ongoing programmes, with participants exploring avenues for implementation of support initiatives.
Tinatin Bokuchava, the Chair of the opposition United National Movement - United Opposition “Strength is in Unity” faction, emphasised the significance of NDI programmes in fostering institutional development of the Parliament.
However, she also expressed concerns about “excessive politicisation of issues under the current Government”, claiming its “adverse impact” on effectiveness of the programmes.
