Municipal services are using technical salt to de-ice roads in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi following successive days of snowfall and low temperatures across the country, Davit Pachulia, the Director of the cleaning and waste management company Tbilservice Group said on Wednesday.

Pachulia said priority was given to central streets of the city in order to ensure uninterrupted operation of municipal transport.

He also noted the work included both the inner districts of the capital and its outlying territories, and added freezing temperatures were making it difficult for professionals of the company to carry out cleaning works during late hours.

A hotline for traffic restrictions and delays has also been activated amid the disruptive weather, with temperatures expected to fall to -7C over the next two days throughout the country.
