The Roads Department of Georgia has imposed traffic restrictions on several sections across the country following heavy snowfall on Monday.

Traffic of trailers, semi-trailers and buses with more than 30 seats has been prohibited on a 50 km road section of the Khashuri-Akhaltsikhe-Vale international road leading to the south-western border with Turkey.

The remaining sections of road are open for access for traffic, the Department said.

Snowfall and ice have also led to restrictions being introduced on the kilometre 132-200 section of the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway. Traffic of trailers and semi-trailers is prohibited on the segment, while the other sections remain open.

The kilometre 39-62 section of the Kutaisi-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri highway also remains off limits to trailers and semi-trailers, along with the Sachkhere-Uzunta-Shkmeri-Zudali road, and the Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road.
