Over 300 municipal service employees are working round-the-clock to de-ice roads in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi following days of ongoing snowfall and low temperatures, Davit Pachulia, the Director of the cleaning and waste management company Tbilservice Group said on Thursday.
Pachulia said 30 units of special equipment had been involved in the clearing works on central streets of the city as well as at bus stops, sidewalks and underpasses.
He added the municipal service had used over 1,000 tonnes of technical salt to de-ice roads, and urged the public to refrain from driving without winter tyres equipped.
A hotline for traffic restrictions and delays has been activated amid the disruptive weather, with temperatures forecast to fall to -7C until Friday throughout the country.
