Relations between Georgia and France and prospects for future cooperation were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Sheraz Gasri, the French Ambassador to Georgia.

The meeting noted France’s status as a “friend and reliable partner” of Georgia, the Government Administration said.

Garibashvili thanked Gasri for her “strong support” for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and her Government’s policy of non-recognition of the Russian-occupied regions of Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) and Abkhazia.

The officials highlighted the importance of France's support for Georgia's integration into the European Union and NATO.

The head of the Government also stressed his Government would “continue to support European values” and “play a constructive role” in supporting regional peace and stability.
