Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday highlighted the “courage, endurance and heroism” of the Ukrainian people on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of the country, in a letter to his Ukrainian counterpart Ruslan Stefanchuk.
It has been one year since the aggression of the Russian Federation brought chaos, destruction, pain and tears to Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation. At the same time, it has been a year of courage, endurance and heroism of the Ukrainians”, Papuashvili said.
The letter noted Ukraine stood “united and firm as never before, and has a textbook story of heroism to tell future generations”.
Georgia has stood in full solidarity to Ukraine throughout this period. Georgia's flag was flying high at the Embassy of Georgia in Kyiv and other cities even in the most difficult moments of the war. Georgia has become a second home for thousands of Ukrainians until a peaceful sky above Ukraine [can be restored]”, the head of the legislative body noted.
Papuashvili expressed his confidence that “better days” would come for the country, giving its partners an opportunity to “celebrate the Ukrainian victory in the heroic capital of Kyiv”.
