Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Tuesday “strongly” condemned the meeting between Aslan Bzhania, the de facto “President” of Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia region, and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Tuesday.
Zourabichvili said on social media the meeting constituted “another blatant violation” of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“I strongly condemn Aleksandr Lukashenko’s ‘official meeting’ in Minsk with the so-called ‘President’ of occupied Abkhazia”, the Georgian President tweeted.

Following Lukashenko's visit to Sokhumi, which disregarded the Georgian Law on Occupied Territories, this constitutes another blatant violation of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, she noted.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said the action “blatantly” violated Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, and noted it was an “attempt to legitimise” the Russian occupation regime.
In his discussions in the meetings, the Belarusian President said he “could not understand” why the Georgian Government had reacted “so sharply” to the meetings, adding the discussions “might serve friendship between Georgians and Abkhazians”.
