Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri on Tuesday extended his gratitude to Georgia’s international partners for their support in institutional buildup of the country’s agencies and vowed to continue “active cooperation” in the process.
In his address to the Parliament over his office’s work throughout the past year, Gomelauri noted the Ministry had “successfully” continued the cooperation with international organisations and partner countries in Euro-Atlantic integration, development of international legal cooperation and donor coordination.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, as one of the main agencies responsible for the Black Sea security from Georgia, is successfully implementing the maritime security project within the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package”, he told lawmakers.
“In order to successfully implement visa-free travel in the process of European integration, the Ministry, as one of the leading agencies on issues of visa-free travel, has taken a number of important and effective steps”, he added.
The Minister also stressed the bilateral cooperation of the country’s authorities with EU member states and European agencies like Frontex, Europol and the EU Asylum Agency had “further deepened” over the course of the year.
