Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri told the Georgian Parliament on Tuesday his office had ensured arrests of 307 wanted offenders over the past year, including 37 sought through the Interpol Red Notice.

He also said 45 individuals had been arrested in “several European states” in joint raids involving Georgian police attaches, resulting in arrests of individuals that included criminal authorities.

Gomelauri pointed out his office had sent attaches to 16 countries, with operations involving them covering the territory of 24 states. Two more attaches are expected to be designated to Ireland and Israel “in the near future”, he added.

The Minister added the country’s law enforcement officers had recovered 56 vehicles wanted by Interpol last year.

The lawmakers were also told the Ministry had ensured “effective” cooperation with partner states through the international police cooperation involving Interpol, Europol and other communication channels.
