The first weekly meeting of the Georgian Government in 2023 on Monday discussed raising funds for the feasibility study of the Black Sea submarine cable project and construction of a wind power plant in the western Imereti region, among other topics.
The Government Administration said the feasibility study on the former project, an international deal for connecting the South Caucasus energy system to Europe, was underway with €2.5 million allocated for the purpose.
It added following today's meeting the Ministry of Finance would request an additional $75 million from the World Bank, with a preliminary agreement already reached with the institution. The study is scheduled to be finished this year.
In its meeting, the Government also approved the contract with the Achar Energy 2007 company for a full feasibility study for the wind farm in Imereti.
The Administration announced $66 million would be invested in the plant, which is estimated to have an installed capacity of 50 MW and generate 180.89 million kWh annually.
