The National Statistics Office of Georgia will launch an online portal for social and economic statistics in the country’s municipalities this year, with the agency also working to improve its data collection.
Director Gogita Todradze announced on Tuesday the interactive portal would combine figures tracking socio-economic development of municipalities through about 100 indicators.
The Office plans to conduct around 245 surveys involving over 50,000 business entities and a higher number of households.
Todradze also revealed plans for transforming the body into a “paperless” office, a model in which it will no longer use paper questionnaires in surveys.
The head of the body said the initiatives would be a “step forward” for data improvement for the agency.
