Deputy Economy Minister inspects ongoing planned works at Tbilisi International Airport

Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Wednesday got acquainted with the renovated infrastructure at Tbilisi International Airport, the Economy Ministry said.

Kvrivishvili, along with the Director of the United Airports of Georgia Irakli Karkashadze,  inspected the new equipment of the airdrome and aircraft ground handling and the equipment of the fire-rescue service, as well as the reconstruction works of the internal planning of the departure and arrival terminals of the airport.

Tea Zakaradze, the General Manager of TAV Georgia [the company operating Tbilisi and Batumi airports in the country], briefed the Deputy Minister on the planned works to be carried out in the airport this year to increase the capacity of the passenger flow, to reduce the queues at the border crossing point, and create more comfort for passengers. The works include the renovation of the carpets of the passenger bridges, as well as the setting up of a new duty-free space. 

Kvrivishvili and Zakaradze discussed the preparations for the summer season and highlighted the importance of completing the planned infrastructural works “in a short time” to avoid “any delays” during the season, the TAV Georgia said, adding in 2023 the company would spend more than ₾24 million (about $9mln) on internal infrastructural works and equipment renewal.
