Parliamentary ties between Georgia and Norway and opportunities for their further enhancement were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Georgian Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Chair, and Bergljot Hovland, the Norwegian Ambassador to the country.
Samkharadze extended his gratitude to Hovland for her country’s assistance across areas, the Parliament said.
The officials reviewed Georgia's European integration efforts, the Government's future plans for the process, as well as the country's pursuit of NATO membership, and the “vital role” of Norway's “unwavering” support on this path.
The meeting also focused on the situation in Georgia's Russian-occupied regions and security threats originating from Russia.
The officials also discussed regional security, Russia's ongoing aggression in Ukraine, the significance of a peaceful resolution to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the impact of events in the Middle East on Georgia's security.
