The “fruitful” cooperation between the defence ministries of Georgia and Norway was discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and Bergljot Hovland, the newly appointed Norwegian Ambassador to the country.

Burchuladze thanked Hovland for the “political and practical” support provided to the country by the Norwegian Government, the Defence Ministry said.

The meeting focused on the importance of cooperation in bilateral, European Union and NATO formats, which the officials said were contributing to increasing interoperability and transformation.

They also highlighted the significance of the successful implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package as the “most effective practical cooperation mechanism”.

Burchuladze also thanked the Norwegian side for the contribution to the development of the NATO-Georgia Training and Evaluation Centre, as well as for the financial contribution to the trust fund.
