Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday said the Government was “interested in conducting transparent and competitive” parliamentary elections in 2024, and pledged it would “cooperate with everyone who will participate in this process with us”.

In his remarks over the matter, Darchiashvili noted a part of the action plan to implement the European Union recommendations was to ensure a “free, fair and competitive” electoral process.

He also highlighted implementation of the recommendations of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights by completing electoral reforms “long before election day” and ensuring “adequate” voter representation.

The top Georgian diplomat stressed the Government had expressed its willingness to cooperate “very closely” with the OSCE Office.

We have stated many times that the Government of Georgia is interested in conducting the elections as transparent and competitive as possible, this is our main interest”, he continued.

Darchiashvili added the Government was expressing its “readiness” to host “both long-term and short-term” international observer missions in the country.
