Nancy Faeser, the Federal Minister of the Interior and Community of Germany, on Monday arrived in Georgia with first official visit to the country.
The Georgian Interior Ministry said the Deputy Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and the country’s Ambassador to Germany Levan Izoria welcomed the visiting official at Tbilisi International Airport in the country’s capital.
The Ministry said Faeser was scheduled to hold a meeting with her Georgian counterpart Vakhtang Gomelauri on Tuesday.

The officials are also expected to sign an agreement on Migration and Mobility, aiming to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in labour migration and education.
Educational and internship programs will be implemented “more intensively” for Georgian students and researchers as a result of the agreement, the Ministry added.
It also said the German Parliament had adopted a legislative act recognising Georgia as a safe country of origin on December 15, confirming the country was a “legal and democratic” state, where “proper” protection of human rights was ensured.
The Ministry added the deal included strengthening of efforts against illegal migration, which implied cooperation to ensure readmission and reintegration of Georgian nationals who violate the rules of visa-free travel between the countries.
The readmission programme has been “successfully implemented” since March 1, 2011 following the agreement signed between Georgia and the European Union in 2010, it added.
