Georgian PM says Gov’t interested in establishing “long-term peace, stability” in South Caucasus

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday said his Government was interested in establishing “long-term peace and stability” in the South Caucasus region and making a “significant contribution” to the objective.
Garibashvili highlighted “concrete results” in the Government providing “important mediation” that led to an agreement between Azerbaijani and Armenian governments in their dispute over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
He noted his office maintained “close, friendly relations” with its partners in the region - Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
I would like to mention some time ago the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia visited Georgia. We, the leaders of all three countries, had a unique opportunity to hold a meeting together. I think it was a very interesting precedent that we set”, he added.
The PM also highlighted his and Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili’s “successful” foreign trips as well as the visit of Josep Borrell, the European Union High Representative, to the country’s capital Tbilisi in September, along with that of Viktor Orbán, the Hungarian Prime Minister, in October and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer in January.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday said Georgia was “truly” a “neutral and impartial mediator” between Azerbaijan and Armenia, at a panel discussion Eurasia's Middle Corridor: From Pathway to Highway within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili said, on Wednesday, at a joint press conference with Germany’s chancellor Olaf Scholz, that he hoped Armenia and Azerbaijan would soon return to the “path of dialogue”, noting Georgian government was observing the ongoing events in the neighbourhood with “great concern”. Garibashvili emphasised Armenia and Azerbaijan have been friendly countries for Georgia and what was “happening” between them was “unacceptable”.
Georgian authorities on Tuesday said the end-of-year report presented on Monday by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili showcased the “progress” the country had achieved during the past 11 years.
