Defence Minister highlights country’s “steady” development on backdrop of global challenges

Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Sunday highlighted the Government’s efforts on the backdrop of current global challenges by saying “we have achieved that the country is developing steadily in the face” of them.

In an interview with Imedi TV, Burchuladze said the country's governance by the ruling Georgian Dream party was the “only decade” without war in its recent history. 

The official also told the interview “On the backdrop of these challenges, our country is developing steadily, we have maintained peace and will continue to do so in the future”. 

Burchuladze highlighted institutional development of his office, advancement of defence capabilities of the state and deepening of international cooperation in his comments. 

The official also reviewed the European Union membership candidate status received by the country last week by focusing on the role of the Georgian Government and defence forces in the process.

I would like to congratulate our citizens on a great success, and congratulate our army on receiving the candidate status, which played a big role in receiving the candidate status and, in general, in the country’s European integration, and will continue to do so in the future”, Burchuladze continued. 

He added that the Prime Minister and his cabinet had done a “great job” to achieve this outcome.
