The multinational command post exercise Maple Arch 2023, organised by the Canadian Department of National Defence, concluded in Georgia, with the country hosting the military drills for the second time, the Defence Ministry said on Saturday.
Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, the Commander of the Defence Forces, together with the leaders of the Defence Forces, congratulated the participants on completing the international training successfully and highlighted the importance of multinational exercises in increasing interoperability with NATO.
The two-week training, aiming to increase mutual compatibility and deepen ties with the participant countries in the defence field, was held at the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre. The last part of the drills was attended by high-ranking military personnel of the Canadian and other participating countries’ armed forces.
Led by Georgia’s Eastern Command of the Defence Forces, the annual multinational drills intend to bring the country closer to NATO standards in planning and implementing peacekeeping operations, as well as to improve the necessary skills for effective action and decision-making.
