Agile Spirit multinational defence drills conclude in Georgia

The 11th edition of Agile Spirit 2023 multinational defence drills in Georgia have officially concluded, the Ministry of Defence of Georgia said on Friday.
Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze addressed participants at the closing ceremony and emphasised the importance of international manoeuvres supporting mutual compatibility of involved troops.
Burchuladze also thanked the United States for its support in planning and execution of the drills, which involved demonstration manoeuvres for raid, blockade and counterattack operations.
It involved Georgian Defence Forces units, as well as the US National Guard and Marine Corps Engineer forces, in addition to Moldovan and Romanian infantry platoons.

The 11th Agile Spirit multinational exercise in Georgia launched on Wednesday with airborne demonstration training at Vaziani military base.
The United States Embassy in Georgia on Wednesday issued a statement on military cooperation between the two states in 2023 and stressed US-Georgia continued “to do more across a broad range of cooperative military activities”.
The 10th Agile Spirit multinational exercise hosted by Georgia, involving 2,500 troops from 15 NATO allied and partner countries, came to an end earlier today. Agile Spirit, which is a Georgian Defence Forces and US Army Europe and Africa cooperatively-led, joint multinational brigade-level exercise, was held between July 26 and August 6. It covered a simulated command post exercise, field training, and joint multinational, battalion-level combined arms live-fire exercises.
Georgia will host the Agile Spirit 2021 multinational exercise next week involving 2,500 troops from 15 NATO allied and partner countries in Georgia between July 26 and August 6. Agile Spirit is a Georgian Defence Forces and US Army Europe and Africa cooperatively-led, joint multinational brigade-level exercise, incorporating a simulated command post exercise, field training, and joint multinational, battalion-level combined arms live-fire exercises.
Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Tuesday said about ₾360 million ($135mln) had been spent over the last four years on both construction and renovation projects to ensure “modernised infrastructure at the level of NATO member states” for military personnel of the country.
The multinational command post exercise Maple Arch 2023, organised by the Canadian Department of National Defence, concluded in Georgia, with the country hosting the military drills for the second time, the Defence Ministry said on Saturday.
