Georgian Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze on Wednesday discussed opportunities for deepening cooperation with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and future plans during a meeting with its Vice President, Konstantin Limitovskiy.
The Ministry said Karseladze shared information about “important projects” for the development of road and water supply infrastructure throughout the country. The body added the parties also talked about ongoing projects supported by the AIIB.
The progress of the development of the East-West international highway passing through Georgia and plans of “various infrastructure projects” to be implemented in 2024 were “highly appreciated” by the visiting official, said the Ministry.
Georgia is a founding member of the AIIB and has been a client since 2017.
Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili highlighted Georgia’s economic and investment opportunities at the Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, hosted between Sunday and Monday in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, the Ministry said.
The main directions of the cooperation agenda between Georgia and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank were discussed on Sunday by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Jin Liqun, the President of the AIIB, at the meeting in China’s capital city of Beijing.
Irakli Chikovani, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday said the decision to raise Georgia-China cooperation to a “strategic partnership” would provide for more opportunities to develop trade and economic relations between the two states.
Priority directions for the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank’s upcoming activities in Georgia and topics of the domestic economy were discussed in a meeting between the Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili and Konstantin Limitovskiy, the Vice President of AIIB, the Ministry said on Wednesday.
