Irakli Chikovani, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Saturday said Georgia was able to ensure the release of Georgian citizens, illegally detained by the Russian-controlled occupation forces near the occupation line, in “the shortest period of time”.
Chikovani's statement came in response to a recent incident in the occupied territory adjacent to the village of Adzvi in central Georgia's Gori municipality, where three Georgian citizens were detained by occupation forces on Saturday.
The MP expressed gratitude to all relevant agencies involved in the process of ensuring the prompt release of the detained citizens and noted that there were some "exceptional, difficult" cases when the release of detainees had taken a longer time, “we spare no effort to make progress on these issues as well”, he added.
