Zurab Pataradze, Georgia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, on Friday said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili would discuss ties between the countries and green energy projects with President Ilham Aliyev during his participation in the Economic Forum hosted as part of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Pataradze noted Garibashvili would address the event and meet with Aliyev to discuss political, trade and economic ties, as well as “cultural and humanitarian issues”.

He added the two officials would discuss green energy initiatives and the Black Sea submarine electricity cable project, intended to connect the grids of the South Caucasus and European Union member states.

Pataradze said the meeting would also discuss logistical issues, and expansion and completion of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, due to be completed this year.

The Ambassador said the meeting would give an “additional impetus” to the development and strengthening of relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan.
