Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday highlighted “opening of a new chapter” on the country’s European Union integration path.
In his remarks about the conference Georgia’s Road to the European Union, set to be hosted on Wednesday in Tbilisi, Papuashvili noted the discussions would highlight the domestic Bill on the action plan for preventing excessive influence in domestic politics, drafted to meet conditions for the country to be granted the EU membership candidate status.
Now, we open a new chapter on the EU integration path associated with the nine priorities [set out by the European Commission]. Today, they will be discussed at the conference, including the draft action plan on preventing excessive influence. I hope that civil society will be actively engaged in this consideration. It is crucial to accelerate the ratification of this plan to proceed to the implementation phase”, he said.
The event is organised by the Parliament and the National Platform of Georgia of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum.
Third Joint Conference is on the way between @Geoparliament and @EaPCSF_GNP.
